What we actually do

No pledges we cannot keep. Here is how the studio runs, and what we are still working on.

Nothing made on spec

We knit a piece after it is ordered, so we do not produce stock that later goes unsold.

Offcuts become small things

Yarn is bought in the quantities an order needs. Leftovers go into beanies, booties and swatches rather than the bin.

Paper packaging only

Orders ship in paper and card. No plastic mailers, no filler, no branded tissue that goes straight into the recycling.

No machines in the process

Hand knitting uses no powered machinery. The only electricity in the process is the light our knitters work by.

What we are still working on

  1. Trace every batch

    We are working out how to record where every batch of yarn was spun, not just who sold it to us.

  2. Offer repairs

    We want to offer repairs on our own pieces, so a pulled stitch does not end a sweater.

  3. Take pieces back

    We are looking for a way to take back pieces that are past wearing and re-use the yarn.
